As we continue into flu season, providers are stocking up on flu and COVID-19 boosters. To accommodate the new boosters available to the public, AMA announced CPT codes for billers to use. They were released on August 31, 2022 for immediate use.
The CPT codes distinguish between age, manufacturer, and type of booster. Proper notes should be taken on those details to prevent a claim being denied. Additionally, accurate records ensure the provider can be properly reimbursed through the correct type of booster they’re administering.

Moderna bivalent booster – 18 years and older
